I noticed the thread on removing the Sonata lettering from the trunk but no mention of removing the Hyundai emblem. Has anyone done this? Does the trunk have holes to accommodate posts on the emblem? If not, then its an easy process. Thanks for any help Gentlemen.

Mine had two posts that are secured inside the trunk lid.

It's easy to get at so not a problem and the first time I removed the emblem, I did it without releasing the clips inside the trunk lid. But beware, there will be two holes left behind when you remove the flying "H".

Also, I replaced the flying H with an aftermarket emblem that was flat. Since the trunk lid is curved, it didn't stick very well and fell off after a couple of weeks. If you are going to mount something there, be sure to make sure it bends to conform to the trunk lid or secure it from the inside using the two holes.

i also believe the back H has two posts, i have my new emblems on order so i cannot confirm.

BUT i saw this the other night:

i know its not a sonata but i would put money on it to be exactly the same. I do use goo gone and had never had an issue with any car, i do clean it off after.

I'm probably wrong about it just being stuck on then. I haven't even looked at mine, I thought I read somewhere that they were stuck on.

Thank you gentlemen. That changes my approach and will start looking for an aftermarket emblem. Also read on this Forum where someone painted the "slanted H" emblem gloss black. May try that since my ride is black. Again, your help is much appreciated!
