Ha, if you rent a vehicle outside of this continent, all you get is an MT, if you want an AT have to order it two months in advance and pay $$$$$ extra, First car I got from Hertz in Italy with on 15,000 km on it, zero free play on the clutch, it was worn thin, I don't want this thing, got another. Mostly tourist, they don't know how to drive them.
American vehicles never did get it right, to move your foot from the accelerator to the brake pedal, would kick your chin with your knee when moving over. The British sports cars even back in the 50's knew how to do this right. With our Cruze 2LT, they finally got it right. Reason for this car, with their Eco, couldn't even get a compact spare with an MT, had to buy an AT first. Question was, what in the &^%$ does the transmission have to do with the spare tire? Now, anything above their Eco comes with an AT, then dropping the PT from 100K down to 60K miles, time to look elsewhere.
Rented a Ford Cmax in Italy, reason for going there, wanted to be with my stepson, his wife, and new grandson, if we traveled to Venezuela, would have been locked up in their filthy prisons as an American spy. Driving down in our Cruze, wife had her large luggage and carry on, I had to put mine in the back seat. In Italy, with that Cmax, not only our luggage could fit in the back, but our kids as well. Diesel, averaged 55 mpg, had to convert, and this was driving at 90 mph, ha, wife darn near panicked, said if I drove any slower would be ran over.
In the rear, two seats could fold up with a carrying capacity of seven passengers, sure liked this car, but can't buy these in the USA, five passengers is maximum. Also had a minivan type of rear door, that was nice for getting in an out. Met friends with a new Chrysler minivan, took a trip together, two of them, two of us, and three kids, we all fit in. Son purchased one of these here with the third kid, well, he said he didn't buy it, never would, his wife did. With five of them and two of us, can't travel with them, only carries six passengers.
Ha, if Hillary gets elected, may just move to Italy, they want me back, and my wife. Yeah, gas is a bit expensive, but property taxes are not, all have ways of getting us one way or the other. But sure have a lot more common sense with their vehicles.
