^^Wow...my first welcome to the forum post. I did post a hello in the welcome members area.
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/new-m.../481641-2018-elantra-sport-omega-package.html
I guess I went to the wrong room without an invite to some party you guys were having. I'm only kidding. Thank you very much. Yeah, I finally figured out the whole posting pic thing. Now the embedding videos is another issue and the very reason I haven't done so. Eh, I'll figure it out, I suppose.
Hopefully you guys don't mind the photo bombing. There's tons of pics online which I'll get around to posting. Funny, not a single American site posts a single picture from those Korean sites. Even if the American model changes ever so slightly, it would be nice to see/hear information. I suppose the news media is told to shut up until it's more official.
I think this is everything I can recall as to details to the sport....
Everything known thus far about the Elantra/Avante sport:
1.6 T-GDI engine and 265NM torque. 201-204HP (several sites and forums are contradicting other information in regards to HP) I'm willing to bet the 201HP number is more correct.
Manual transmission is standard with the 7 DCT as an option
Available in 11 exterior colors with 3 exclusive colors. Hyundai released a press release showing 6 interior colors. Only 2 colors have been available to share with the press; the black and red, and the all red seats. The baseball glove brown (well, that's what color it looks like to me) hasn't been seen or shown in person to what I'm aware of.
Rear independent suspension
Rides 10mm lower to the ground (most likely for better handling)
18" alloy rims in multi spoke
Possible equipment the Korean models have that may or may not make it to other shores: automatic folding exterior mirrors, ventilated seats, AC vents in front center armrest****
Possible surprises for American models: DRL inside the headlight. I believe this is possible after Korea held back this design for all American models including Canada with the SE and limited. Possible name change for passaged options. Korea is getting an Rs line so maybe package names will change here too.
Styling changes compared to other Elantra trim models: headlight redesign with HID lights (these should be bifunctional as there is no other light mount inside the headlights besides the turn signals), led taillight with the letter shape C on left and D on the right instead of O shaped, rear tail light lens have been changed for both the reverse and turn lights from a clear bar to a small clear rectangle and a larger Amber rectangle (awful design), faux diffuser, splitter, body skirts, new rims, door sill scuff plates for all 4 doors
Optional equipment: better stabiliser bars, stiffer suspension springs and dampers, lighter weight 6 spoke 18" rims, engine cover in red, spoiler
As to safety features, not much has been discussed. I'm assuming the same features on the limited fully loaded will make it as well to the sport. It wouldn't make sense to have a sporty feeling car and holdback on the safety options.
Korea sales price is around 20,000,000 won for the base according to some sites. That's about 17,000 here. The numbers don't add up. I expect the base model to start at $24-25,000. I expect $28,500 fully loaded including suspension upgrades. If it caps out higher than this estimate, I'll look into other car companies. I know some here are thinking that's about the price for the limited model now; well, once the sport comes out, these prior trim models will be close to a year old. I expect Hyundai to slightly rearrange the price model for these other trims in order to make room for the sport. Keep in mind, if this car tops out the Sonatas turbo price, something is seriously wrong with Hyundai. Highly unlikely.
I'll post what I know now that I'm part of this forum.
