Wax

About to wax my Tucson and was wondering which one you suggest.

Just completed a full paint decontamination, claybar and paint sealer!

You will get so many opinions here you will leave more confused.... If you have been happy with what you have used in the past, stick with that.

Personally I use Mequires cleaner wax with a 5" buffer.

2014 Elantra Sport 2.0 6M Shimmering Silver. LED interior lights, cargo mat and net. 35/20% tint. LED tag and back up lights. LED fogs. LED headlights, homelink.
2016 Tucson Sport 1.6T 7A Caribbean Blue. Hitch, tint, mudguards, homelink, cargo cover, LED back up and tag lights, power pass seat lumbar installed, LED fogs, aftermarket crossbars for the roof.

If you are looking for the best, I've heard good things about Collinite.

I use Duragloss 501, but it can be hard to find locally.

I've also heard good things about NuFinish and used it previously.

I've used Autoglym and was very impressed with it. The shine is incredible. It occasionally goes on sale at Canadian Tire.

Why aren't your arms flailing? (avatar)

Meguire's is what I almost always use. It's not a 'cleaner' wax so there's nothing harsh in it. Any pure wax will do fine. If you keep the finish as nice as it looks you'll never need a cleaner wax. Avoid the buffer, though. Black is murder.

Meguire's also makes a wax for black now. I haven't used it but if it's as good as their other products, you'll be OK.

Haven't owned a black car in many years, but used the same wax and buffer back then as well. You key tip is spot on, keep the finish nice.

Is that a Del Sol, or a Lexus SC? Either way, it's a cool car.

Speaking of cool, did you marry that person to your right?

I used a buffer on my Supra (dark blue) and when the sun hit it hard the swirl marks popped right out. I was working in a detailing shop for a Toyota dealer, so I grabbed a bottle of "black" buffing compound and buffed the car again, and NEVER touched it with a buffer again!

94 delSol with the B16 motor. Bought it right off the showroom floor Jan 95 after I get back from Korea. Should have kept it since in the total production run they only made about 9K with that motor. It was a fun little car. Sold it and bought a 99 Accord EX that I HATED....lol

And yes that is the wife. Pic is from about 98 I think.

It takes practice, but I've never had an issue with swirl marks. Good wax and a light touch with the buffer. Gotta be sure to get it washed good first.
