So I wanted black rims and my mechanic suggested getting the stock rims painted if I liked them to save some cash and hassle of selling if I bought new ones. I looked at the stock rims and imagined them all black and went for it.

Attached are pics - I'm super happy with how they turned out, I painted the centre Caps myself and bought some silicone lug nut covers to complete the black out look.

Just sharing in case anyone was considering it or was interested.

Cheers

Having black wheels is what I would like to have on my Tucson, which is Caribbean Blue in color.

Looks good. Throw some tint on the front windows while you're at it (if its legal in Canada).

Yeah looks good ... yeah tint will make it look amazing. Although tint is not legal (been to court about it) but most cars still have it on there. Just make sure to roll ALL windows down before your car comes to a complete stop on the road when being pulled over and keep hands on steering wheel at ALL times.

Thanks folks - funny you say Tint as that's next on the list! I'm going to match the back tint on the front and claim ignorance if I get asked by a cop. I'm old enough I'll probably be ok if I get pulled over. Lol

Last thing after tint is black out logos and emblems but not interested in plastidip, if anything I'd buy new set of all emblems and logos and have them painted and then swap them out.

Maybe brake calipers painted but I'd do them black as well I think - but maybe blue.

:-)

Well i have tints on mine and never been any issue with cops.. 30's is dark enough and would come close to the stock in the rear.

I blacked out my rims last spring and painted my calipers red. It was a nice touch. I think they turned out sharp.

Yeah, both of these rims look great (cush29 / webbsh2). I thought about doing this to mine but since it's black already I wasn't sure if it would look right and I kind of like the contrast. Now I am re-thinking it.

Looks good. I thought about doing the same - except not painting but using Plastidip. May do that this summer.

Don't use Platidip. Wheels see a lot of "action" it won't hold up and you will find it frustrating in the long run. Plus, plastidip has been overused in auto-customization - these days it just looks cheap.
