HID in hi-beams vs.halogen

Installed 6000K rebased HID kit into hi-beams. Installation was straightforward. No need H7 adapter!!!

both Hi and Low on:

only Lo is on.

Lo and Fogs (HID in foggies)

again:

only lo-beams

Hi is warming up..

Conclusion: there is no difference in use of HID in hi-beams. It doesn't produce lights over the stock Lo-beams! There are both equal. Terrible!!!!! Probably will go back to good halogen bulbs as with HIDs you can blink...Really disappointed...

Also, didn't get why the arc on HID bulb goes up instead of down? May be that would be a reason then...

Interesting... I do like the color MUCH better than the halogens. The primary reason why I want to replace them myself. I'm really glad to hear you didn't require any adapters!
Wonder if you can turn the bulb around so that the arc goes down. That may reflect the light upwards in the right direction.

What HID kit did you purchase?
How did you run the cabling?
Pics under the hood?

Thanks dude!

Light is really nice, I love it!
I just got 4500K bulbs from tnn tuning (I believe), also as I wasn't sure if I will need or not H7 adapters I got them also. There is no way to put bulbs arc down, as clip has only that position, and you can't flip it over.

I will post pix later on today. Also, as I noticed today, bulbs are flickering even I used capacitors. However I didn't use harness came from TRS I ordered for my fogs last time, will install it today also, seems it might be a reason....

Our DRL is in the fog lights (small little stripe just above the lamp) not in the headlights any more. I love this idea used by koreans!! Headlights work as they must work, fog lights work as they must work and DRL works as it must work independently.

Only the one thing I think they missed for NA model, let fog lights work independently with parking lights (not with the lo beams) or even by itself like in Europe...sometimes in fog lo beams are just dangerous, they make you blind and you have no possibility to turn them off at all and keep just fog lights on...

On both my Hundais the fog light signal is tired to the lo beam signal. It is just a looped wire on the multi function switch plug. You cut the wire and ground the fog light one to the frame. Then the fogs come on whenever you have the key on and the fog light switch on.

what do you guys use for white bulbs in hi-beams, any upgrades so far done or not? Any recommendations....

Now running thru the problem - flickering on both lamps.

My install is following:

7years+ Ballasts+Hella 3gen, connected to the Warning Cancelors, connected to the stock Hi-beam plug on both lamps. No Relay. No warnings on dash, just visible flickering like police....

Unplugged everything and connected both ballasts with cancelers to the morimoto harness. Got one stock plug free, not connected to anything. Got warning message on dash showing one bulb isn't working and needs to be checked, however both bulbs works great as it must, no flickering issue. At the same time got some kinda loud buzzing noise when I turn lights on (don't have it on fogs though).

Seems weird, looks our car uses less then 12V and might be required load resistors...which can not be....Any thoughts on that?

as I expected, the TRS confirmed, we need to use load resistors along with some extra plugs. Just ordered a set, will see upon arrival...Seems our voltage is really sensitive and vulnerable, pulse type Id assume...

If this is a case, how navein@ made his set work easily.....hmm?!

nope, not at all!!! You will get more white lights for sure aka wattage, but it will short ballast life spin.

definitely, you don't need H7 adapters if you do hi-beams. Not sure if you will need them for H7 low`s....Let me check and try my stuff, I will report thereafter....

In regards to warning cancelers, Ive got 2 sets and they didn't work....wil try morimoto`s now....

finally I made it today and result is great, so I reached my goal.

Hi Semco

Looks clean and lighting is good.

I do not understand why you had so much of a problem in the installation. Is it because you have the dual low beam?

My installation is as follows:

1. Low beam(Single Beam) HID

clean job...

Tried to install ballast in the same way as Navein did, but found that it won't fit well as ignitors are too short+can-bus also has short wiring...So at the end tied everything up to the same way as I did with the HID in fogs. Simple and easy, no rattles and will stay good.

My thoughts: would be better to get LED or super-halogen bulbs vs. xenon. With LED you will need to get bulbs with flexible tail, so you won't be able to hid it inside the housing closed. From this point, tail will be heated, so will you melt anything or not....you decide. Having installed nightbraker or rally 65w - honestly, after I searched the web, I didn't find any improvements on the road, so my pick was HIDs. I will say it definitely will improve your hi-beam or you have only the last chance which is do a retrofit and replace halogen reflector with small HID projector...
