no HIDs?

If you have a lovely wife, sexy hot lover, cool car, no problems with the government and revenue authorities, and when you go out the sun always shines and all passers smile to you - common dude, say NO to drugs!

I noticed in another thread that apparently the Tucson HID are 4300K color temperature. I personally have always liked a little more color to it then just the plain whitish yellow that it outputs. I have noticed on a few cars this past weekend (Mazda CX5 and Toyota Corolla) that they have a better looking purple hue to their stock HID. I wouldn't mind changing the bulbs themselves to a slightly different color temperature. I have done that on other cars with stock HID (Mazda CX-7 and Mazda RX-8) but they just had basic HID stock and this Ultimate has the DBL lights. Anyone changed the actual color temp of their stock HID by chance? I personally like the look of how the CX5 and Corolla look with their stock HID, which at night has a bit of a brighter white to its color as well.

you can get only philips ultitron (I believe) 6000K then....but cx5 and corolla are having LEDs, not HIDs. That cool color gives you a lens not a bulb, just to let you know....

Still was deceiving that the paper in the window at the dealership said my Tucson had LED, when it is the single beamed HID. I would prefer the color output of the LED vs the HID that this car came with. SO I want to just change the bulbs out. I figure a set of D3S bulbs in 5000K or 6000K will do the trick to give the color I want.

Yes you can change the HID bulbs. Like you said it's D3S but OEM quality bulbs range from $70-90 per...

I am sure there are cheaper alternatives but something to consider

If I remember correctly, my sticker said LED headlights on the "limited" standard equipment listing. Under the options "ultimate" listing it says HID headlights.

I decided to buy a set of 6000K D3S bulbs to try them out. Once they arrive I will install and see how well they perform. I have just grown tired of seeing all the newer cars with a nicely colored LED headlight, and since my Ultimate in the US came with HID vs LED dual rings, I kind of wanted a little more flare and color so I went with the 6000K. I have used that color many times before on other cars and it seems to still project quite well while giving some better color to the light as well. **** even if it's a little more bluish that will look cool anyways in these projectors and since my car is Caribbean Blue it'll be alright
srudenko and ktang13 like this.

How much did you pay for the bulbs?
I got a quote for $190 that includes installation.

Post some pictures and let us know if everything else works OK with the aftermarket bulbs.

Thanks

Sure thing. I basically just got some cheapies off ebay for $18 for the pair. I have used Ebay bulbs before and not had any issues, but who knows. I rarely ever drive at night anyway but really miss having a brighter blue to the color. I guess the D3S bulbs cost a but more due to those little boxes at the bottom of the bulbs.

My wife has a Mazda CX-7 which had stock HID and I swapped her bulbs to 6000K hid and using the stock system just with different color bulbs they have lasted almost 6 years now! Great considering they were $10 ebay bulbs. Also I recently sold my Mazda RX-8 but that too had stock HID and I swapped those to 6000K bulbs and again using the stock system they worked for almost 2 years before I sold the car and were still working at the time.

Once I have them in I will for sure take pics and report the color and vision quality and about the ease of installation as well. I was just looking for an alternative since I was pissed my car didn't come with LED's as advertised on the window sticker and I like that look in the CX-5 which I was half tempted to get before grabbing this Tucson.

There was a link to Amazon in your post. Were those the same bulbs you got?

The ones that I will eventually get are these:
http://www.thehidfactory.com/product...oem-hid-bulbs/

That shop is in my area
