I thought the Ultimate had HIDs and the Limited had LEDs. My Ultimate package has High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights with Dynamic Bending Light (DBL). The headlights move up, down, left, right then back to 'center' when they are turned on.

I think the 2 rings look badass looking. But I was lost on what those are exactly. I saw those headlights on a couple of the cars in the lot but had no idea of those are HID or LED. I think 2 rings looks very cool. But am I correct then that the 2 rings are HID and NOT LED? Since there are 2 rings are there 2 bulbs in there?

Any input would be great on this one. I was kind of disappointed when I went back to the dealer for some work and saw ones with 2 beams and thought ah man I wish I had those!
The 2 rings are LEDs.. its flipped from Canadian market.. Ultimate has LEDs (2 rings) while Limited has the Adaptive HIDs.. and yes they do look bad ass!! And have no complain about their brightness whatsoever

US Model Limited Ultimate has HID (one ring)

US Limited (without Ultimate package) has LED (two rings).

I like HID better.
LED bulbs do not put out as much light in terms of coverage and distance which is probably why there are 2 of them in each headlight.

In the US on 2016 models (have not checked 2017)

Limited=LED FBL (fixed beam light)
Ultimate=HID DBL (dynamic beam light)

Its completely opposite of what most premium mfgs are doing, they typically have the LED as the option. The LED's are brighter imho (this is subjective) but the ultimate has DBL which is nice when driving tight bends at higher speed rates.

Thanks for the info everyone! In all honesty I had thought that LED was supposed to be better and brighter than HID as someone mentioned typically the higher end models in cars will have the LED as the highest option. Considering the Ultimate costs more I assumed it had it as well. My dealership sticker on my window said that my Ultimate has LED headlights. Obviously they are wrong and need to update their paperwork then!

I am in the USA with a single ring, I like the look of the dual ring, and had seen a couple of those versions at the dealership of course after I bought mine but I cannot recall what model they were on (I want to say they were all Limited or Sport and NOT Ultimate editions.

I like the way the dual ring looks better and assumed that was the LED version. Now you guys are saying that the dual ring is in fact LED. Just seems lame to me that my dealer tag said I have LED headlights when I actually have HID instead and then a lower model comes with the dual ring LED instead of my top end Ultimate edition.

So the LED with dual ring is 2 LEDs then? But the HID DBL type I have can be changed to a different color of HID then should I chose correct, since the LED cannot be changed but HID can?

Not sure about the stock motorized HIDs... not sure if anyone has tried switching theirs to a different color

Personally i would prefer HID on Ultimate also, but somehow in canada it comes with LED! I would say that HID is the way to go still. LED is good when it has more then 3 projectors like on Acura or Lexus! Driving with Led is uncomfortable during rain and on wet road.

If you have a lovely wife, sexy hot lover, cool car, no problems with the government and revenue authorities, and when you go out the sun always shines and all passers smile to you - common dude, say NO to drugs!

Garage
2 rings equal LEDs 1 ring equal Halogens. High beams are exactly the same across all trims (and equally as bad) the Leds have static bending lights i.e 1 bulb on the side that turns on when you steer. while the halogens are not equipped at all

This is all according to the specs we got here

I really like the factory HID's with the dynamic bending lights. Living out here in the sticks, it really does help seeing around tight bends. Another plus is that they're "self leveling" so loads don't really effect output.

In Australia the tuscon has the 2 lights for low beam, the single light is for our model of the Santa Fe!
