Prices Paid and Buying Experience Questions

As a loyal Hyundai Elantra owner and multiple attempts to purchase a 2016 Hyundai Tucson AWD limited ultimate, I have found this to be the most frustrating attempt at car buying I have ever experienced in my 55 years. I have been baited and switched with a dealer refusing to honor an e-mail quoted price on a specific VIN #. I have had dealers refuse to reveal their price. I have had dealers refuse to honor both Truecar and Edmund's price certificates. One local Hyundai dealer refuses to budge from MSRP. Another local Hyundai dealer low balled my Elantra trade in by approximately 40% for NADA dealer trade in prices. All of this has occurred with a cash/check in hand. I literally can not buy this car unless I agree to be completely raked. Any advice on how to locate and buy this vehicle at a reasonable price would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, it is time to bring my loyalty elsewhere, possibly to Mazda.

Never talk trade in with a dealer. Know what your car is worth and after the price on the new vehicle is settled talk a trade.

If no dealer will give you the price you are looking for then yes, another manufacturer.

Myself, I always look at the invoice price to start and refuse to buy much over that on new cars. (so, invoice less rebates or promotions less what I think my car is worth or what I would accept for it) If they won't talk close to that I find one who will or another brand. New models or high demand cars, some dealers may stick po MSRP until the fad wears off. One should never get stuck on one specific model of a car as I have to have it, unless you are wealthy and $$$ no object find a competitor that will deal.

Go to carsdirect.com and build one. The invoice on my ultimate was: MSRP $34,165, Invoice $32,517 that includes destination.

well, first of all are you in canada? If such, forget about your homework, they won't take it at all.Thats a reason I buy our cars in the states.

second, if distance isn't a problem for you, use ratemydealer.com (or something else search) and see what the volume dealers are in the country, than get a deal with internet department.

Always, walk away from any "scamb*g" trying to rip you off, there are plenty of them around and your car will find you.

The most important, from my experience working for Boch Honda/Toyota for 7+ years, dealers used NADA guide just only to fool you. All use only KBB info for the reference, however almost non will care about condition of your trade in. Volume dealers won't sale it, it will go to the auction.Why not to sale it privately?

I bought the second one at my Dealer and they were the first in Houston to get the 2016 Tucson. Bottom line is supply and demand and they were very lean on discounts. I think we got 750 off MSRP. Early 2016 you will get a better price and incentives.

They are not budging much on them at all. The dealer I bought from wouldn't move off MSRP but gave me more than what my trade-in was worth.

This is what I see from the carsdirect website. The target price is the same as the msrp.

Anyone leasing out there care to share their monthly payment and what MF and Residual they were given?

Lease cap cost= $32,931
Residual= $19,132.40 56%
Money Factor= .00108

Did you find the invoice price? I found at least 5 dealers that would discount their cars around invoice plus $100.00 - $200.00
