Hi MHillman,

From memory (it's a bit dark to go outside for a look) but in my i30 Diesel the place where they plug their diagnostic machine in is on the passengers side of the engine bay in the far right back corner (looking at the engine bay from the front of the car) I hadn't noticed it until it was pointed out by a mechanic friend.

Cheers,

Dazz

Are you pleased with your car. What colour did you get. Mine is a manual SLX diesel (we love it). Hoping to start up an i30 owners club soon!

Thanks for the tip. It's definately there on the left hand side. It has "diagnosis" written on it. There is also one under the steering wheel.

Very pleased with the car. Sticks to the road like glue. Awesome acceleration (once the turbo kicks in). Silver colour. Auto.

mhillman,

You must have one of the first auto diesels in the country. Congrats. Let us know how the fuel economy is going. There is a thread on here that contains info about fuel economy.

I think I did get one of the early ones. The dealer said he'd only had them a few days. I only have the SX, so there's no fuel consumption measurement. My low fuel light comes on at about 600km, and according to the book I have 10 litres left. I think that means around 720km per tank (around the city). I'm pretty pleased with that.

Hi mhillman,

Just wondered where you found that the low fuel light comes on with 10 litres left.

I have looked in the manual but can't find it.

Cheers

I think it's pretty common with different makes to have the 10L mark as the point that the fuel warning light/buzzer activates, giving you plenty of time to re-fill. I know my old VP Commodore's fuel light would come on at the 10L point.

My light came on this morning - did about 20Km of driving and then filled up.

Put 42 litres in so I guess the 10 litres figure would be about right (It was pretty hilly where I was driving so this would have affected when the light first came on).

hadder's was it hard to fill to the top? like did you get lots of false clicks first?
Thank's in advance as like to know these things in advance.
John
Also i was just thinking, if when the warning light comes on you have 10L left this mean's you are safe to go at least 100K more with light on.

Hi Lakes,

To be honest I just filled it until the first "click" so not sure how much more I could have got in..... Had my suit on and didn't want to end up with diesel everywhere!

For what it's worth after I filled up it gave a distance to empty of 606Km....
