Can this be replaced? Wife broke the latch off hitting it with her purse.

This happened to me too. Has anyone been able to replace just the latch, or do you have to replace the entire lid assembly?

looking at the diagram from HMAservice, it seems pretty confusing.
I ended up super gluing it (gorilla glue didn't work) and it worked good, until I put a little too much pressure on it, and it broke.
Fixed it 3 times, still not permanent, so I just put a small tab of velcro. I used a big tab of velcro, but it put too much pressure on the bottom latch, and I didn't want that to break

Default Any more ideas?

I spoke to the main dealer here in Oman and they said I'd have to get the whole unit as they'd too tried replacing the knob/lever and were not sucessful.
They said there were some clips on the inside which once dislodged could not be put back into place.

I wish there was someone providing instructions for the Veracruz like Bert Rowe who's set this wonderful website up www.aclassinfo.co.uk for the Merc A Class.

The type of person that usually purchase this kind of vehicle is most likely not interested in either modding or fixing thing on this vehicle. Therefore, the lack of traffic on this thread.

I had this same problem and replaced the latch myself today. Using a thin flat head screwdriver, gently pry the top lid apart. Then, using a philips screwdriver, unscrew the latch mount and remove the latch/knob. Using the springs from the old latch/knob, reassemble latch mount. Secure latch mount and pop the lid back in place. Very quick and easy job. Took under 10 minutes.

I just found the latch online. It cost 88 cents but $11.50 in shipping so I ordered 4 for when I break it again (LOL). Here's the link: SPRING - ARMREST UPPER LATCH. Hyundai Sonata (2008 - 2010) # 846643K000
The upper and lower latches appear to me to be identical. Here are the parts numbers though in case the link above goes bad by the time you view this.
Bottom latch: 84661F
Top latch: 84661E
Bottom latch springs: 84663F
Top latch springs: 84663E
Like I said, the latch itself appears to be identical. However, the springs are different. On the link above, the latch comes with the springs for whichever you order. Since my springs were fine, I ordered the top one for $0.88 rather than the bottom for $3.63 (I may be a few pennies off on this number).
Looks like an easy fix once I get it in the mail. Good luck to you all.
