2012 Veracruz AWD Limited
Recently I wanted to reset my preset phone numbers in my factory installed Alpine nav and when I followed the manual iinstructions to go to the 'tool' section the only available option was "Audio". Every other tool option was missing. I went to my Hyundai service dept. and he showed me the most ridiculous way to change my preset info. ...follow these steps: car off turn key to 'on' headlights 'on' parking barake down/up/down headlights 'off' and presto!, tool selections appear!!!!!!! First question how the heck thought this was a good idea? Its not even in the owners manual. Second, why hasn't Hyundai remedied this issue? (follow up call pending) Once you turn your car off it clears out the options. This action has to be taken everytime you need to access you tool source. Third, would this qualify as a 'lemon law' violation? Service writer told me its only for 2011 & 2012 Veracruzs with this Alpine nav. unit. He told me no one knew how to fix this until they called Alpine. I pretty ticked off...I paid alot of money for what a feel is a 'luxury" suv which is supposed to offer simple easy to use options and now you have to be a computer tech to use it! Thoughts, opinions, insight...anyone "not" having this issue with their '11, '12 Alpine nav? Last edited by 273HYPO; 01-17-2013 at 12:04 PM. |

I found the set-up instructions on page 21 of the Alpne manual. I called Alpine also and they say its programmed like that because of federal regulations so people keep their eyes on the road and not messing around with the touch screen...Why then are you able to dial phone numbers into the unit? Oh well....
