Bought a 'tablet' the other day which can be charged via a USB Port. I bought my Veracruz a few months back and never looked for it until the other day....and its not there. I have the factory Nav. unit which displays the USB compatibility but my Veracruz has the cigarette lighter instead of the USB port.
Soooo, I called the dealership service dept. who in turn calls sales and they say 2012 Veracruz's were not available with the USB at all. After I explain that it sounds like fraud or false advertising and it makes no sense that I have an option (Nav) that needs it and the owners manual states it is available as an option where the lighter is located they still say unavailable as an option. Anyone here have the USB in there Veracruz, if so what model Vera. and year. My next call is to Hyundai Corp. I would think I'm entitled to compsenation for getting an option that's not fully usable. I know they will say 'go pound sand' but I got a feeling after some research that they would be legally respnsible. Last edited by 273HYPO; 12-12-2012 at 09:06 PM. |

If it were on the window sticker, then maybe you have a case. EDIT: According to this, you're right: https://www.hyundaiusa.com/vehicles/...features.aspx? Hmm....

Page 4-122 of the 2012 Veracruz Owner's Manual shows the auxiliary and USB inputs to be in the flip up compartment immediately forward from the gear shifter/12v outlet.

interesting...manual states "if equipped", but feature list shows it as standard across both trim levels. i don't think it's retrofit able (is that a word?). if it is...i'd be highly, highly, extremely highly interested in getting this done to mine!
miss this feature from my 2011 sonata. definitely asking the dealer about it. you sure it's a 2012 model? maybe its one of those mid-year upgrades that Hyundai seems to do. happened with the 2007 santa fe, it happened with the 2011 sonata...just throwing out possibilities. |

if all else fails... one of these, for $10, will work. I've charged our two Kindles and my cell phone without a problem. Amazon.com: PowerGen Dual USB Port 2A 10w (fast) Heavy Duty Ouput Car Charger - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

UPDATE - Could it be in the glovebox? Answer - yes.
UPDATE - Quote:
UPDATE - Upon closer examination prior to me calling Hyundai I doublechecked the glovebox and what did I find...the usb cord that I knew was in there BUT its not just a cord its a "hardwired cord" that goes through the glovebox! All this time I thought it was just 'courtesy ' cord give free by Hyundai so the customer has one available to hook-up to there device and connect the other end into the USB port. Not the case with my model. Its hardwired and you just connect the end into the device 'only'. Never had a reason to try and pull it out. I would just moved to the side when accessing the glovebox. Hope this helps others like me. I guess if the Veracruz was still being manufactured the owner manual needs an update. It even fooled the service & sales dept. See attache pics... It takes a big man to admit he was wrong, but a bigger one to admit it in front of the whole internet in the hope of helping others. Good post.
![]() One warning though: Page 4-136 of my owner's manual says "Do not use the USB device for parpose (sic) other than playing music files." Apparently Hyundai did not intend this port as a charging station. Let us know if it works without causing any problems. Don |

Thanks, I am from the old belief, if you think you have a stupid question in class, chances are a whole lot of other people are wondering the same thing. Besides if the Hyundai dealership sales and service depts. didn't know at least I figured it out and not the dumbest one in the group!
