Vehicle specs often change with nobody being told, and product knowledge in general is weak on the lower-volume models. Our salesman - a very experienced guy - was surprised that our Veracruz arrived with carbon-fiber dashboard trim instead of woodgrain. With such small numbers being produced, one gets the sense that they cobble them together with whatever spare parts happen to be available from suppliers.

Soooo, I called the dealership service dept. who in turn calls sales and they say 2012 Veracruz's were not available with the USB at all. After I explain that it sounds like fraud or false advertising and it makes no sense that I have an option (Nav) that needs it and the owners manual states it is available as an option where the lighter is located they still say unavailable as an option.
Anyone here have the USB in there Veracruz, if so what model Vera. and year. My next call is to Hyundai Corp. I would think I'm entitled to compsenation for getting an option that's not fully usable. I know they will say 'go pound sand' but I got a feeling after some research that they would be legally respnsible.

2012 VC GLS AWD (in AZ; purchased in CA) does have the USB - ahead of the shifter. The Aux. port is next to it. Both work with Android 2.2 aux. in showing on the Radio. The USB works fine with a 16GB memory stick (music LI. Just lost my iPod. The USB port is misplaced as is, because the cavity cover needs to stay open, if USB is used. This moment I am trying to find a 90 degree USB male to female, to allow the USB stick to be plugged in horizontally. Unfortunately, the cover has almost no gap between the port and the flap. I may remove the VC USB and place it in the large storage bin, so iPod etc. is kept out of sight - no need to be visible, since the controls work (steering wheel).

Our GLS 2012 AWD has the sunroof, electric tailgate AND USB = same package. If you don't have the $1800 package = no USB my guess....

Can I make a suggestion here...instead of going out to retrofit a USB port purely for charging purposes, you go get a inverter from someone like Frys that has both a 120 outlet AND a USB outlet. Simple and cheap and in my opinion, a better option. I have had one for about a year and it was $22 and works great!

for charging purposes....i use the rear 12v outlet on the console...it's a double USB port charger...even lights up blue when plugged in. that cost me...what...$6 bucks one day thanks to folks over at the sonata forum. one day sale....free shipping. been great. i charge android phone...kids and wife charge their fruit products.

now...if you are using it for a mp3 player...can't help ya. miss it from my '11 sonata.
