I recently bought a 2002 Santa Fe (which I love btw), but since buying it I have discovered the cruise control does not engage. When I click the cruise control button the light on the dash comes on, but I cannot set speed with the other buttons. Nothing happens. I checked the fuse and all looks fine there.... any suggestions??

My guess is that the switch pack with the set button has either gotten disconnected or gone bad. It retails for $25.88 and is a simple swap.

[b]Edit: This just popped into my head. It is possible you have a bad brake light switch. It is telling the cruise that the brake is being depressed so that overrides anything you tell the cruise to do (aside from turning it on and off). I know the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon had this issue.

Good luck.

would there be other evidence of the brake switch being bad? Brake lights always on, etc?

I tried searching online for a cruise control switch to buy, with no luck. Can you tell me where you saw if for $25?

I had that same thing happen and it was the brake light switch. Replaced under warranty at no charge. There are other symptoms but I didn't notice them - the brake lights did not work correctly. I hope this helps.

That's what the local dealer quoted me for a Hyundai switch.

Aside from the brake switch, any or all of the brake light bulbs can affect the cruise control system, and prevent it from working properly.
