I had this problem intermittently until about a year ago when it stopped without warning. It seems to be isolated to the 2.7 liter motor as I have read of another member having the same problem. It was the purge control valve being faulty. I'd give it to your dealer, depending on how frequently it occurs. Best of luck to you...

I think I may be having the same issue. A while back, the CEL lit up with a P0441 code. Checking online, the purge control solenoid valve is usually to blame. Brought it to the dealer and they "fixed" it. Then, my wife was driving the Santa Fe and filled up the tank...and it stalled soon after turning the engine on. Based on the indicators that lit up, she (as well as a few others at the gas station) assumed that the battery was to blame. She found someone that jumped her and she was on her way. We eventually replaced the battery and thought that all was well...until the next time we had to gas up the vehicle. Again, we took it to the dealer to fix. It got "fixed" and we continue to have the starting problem just after filling up (pump stomps automatically...not topping off). I took a video from my cell of what the dashboard looks like when I try to start the vehicle after filling up and uploaded it here: Hyundai Santa Fe problem after fill up - YouTube
Note that I didn't touch the gas pedal, even though it looks like I was revving the engine. Suggestions?? We now have the P0441 code again. I have found that if I wait about 20 minutes after filling up before I attempt to start the vehicle, it doesn't stall. It does come close though. Unfortunately, I don't always have the luxury of waiting 20 minutes after I pump gas without someone getting angry that I haven't moved my vehicle. |
