Default 2003 Sante Fe V6 ABS & TCS lights come on

Three times in the last 5 months both the ABS & TCS light come on together and stay on while I was driving. The first time I pulled over and turned the engine off. After restarting the car and going about 200 feet both lights went out. The same situation happend about 2 months later. Today both lights came on and I continued to drive about 3 miles to my golf destination, when I was ready to leave I let the car idle for seveal minutes and both lights remained on. After I moved the vehicle about 200 feet both lights went out. I drove directly to my mechanic and he put his Snap On code reader and he told me it's saying the "G" sensor is the problem. He hadn't seen this problem before, is this unusal and difficult to repair ? Thanks for any suggestions.

The tone wheels start to move and will set codes, have him check those. They look ok at a glance, but you can move them by hand.

Have your mechanic check the tone wheels on the axles.

To add, if the tone rings have failed, they should be covered under the 10 years/100,000 miles power train warranty. I have the same problem with ABS TCS lights and I have verified this with two dealers. However, I have been too lazy to verify that the tone rings are indeed the cause of my problem. The dealer charges $120 for diagnostics and if the culprit is the tone ring then they don't charge anything. If not, you get an estimate.

The lights came on today again and I went straight to my mechanic, after some checking again with his code reader he put my car up on a lift. On the passenger side, the inside of the front tire there is a gear next to a rubber boot. That gear has a crack in it, is this the gear you are talking about ??? I am the second owner of this vehicle and the car has on 80,000 miles on it. Being the second owner is the vehicle covered under the 100,000 mile warranty?

Yes the gear is the tone ring; not sure about warranty.
