Blower Switch Replacement

Ok I looked at the Hyundai site and ye s I see the switch assembly, looks like there is a screw from rear holding it.

Anyone give me the instructions / cautions to remove the controller assembly and replace the Switch.

this is daughters so its not here for me to attack right now, will have to get a switch and the car.....

Ok had car today and replaced the AC switch
remove the ash tray
remove two screws holding the trim panel, pull two knobs for temp and function off.
pull panel holding AC switches cig and power outlet out.
There are two clips at top right and top left, if these partly come out use trim remover to pop out.
unplug fan speed connector, main connector and cig and power point connector at back of assembly.
remove from car
Remove white module from trim cluster, 4 screws.
remove center button, has two clips at 3 and 9 o'clock
remove screw holding fan speed sw. Twist fan speed sw to release plastic tangs,
The fan speed knob was difficult to remove for me.
In the end I just pulled the switch assembly.
reassemble new switch in module, test in car, then re-install module in trim and replace, reverse of removal.

Hi all,
I also was having major issues with my speed control switch. I was having to joggle the switch and even fine tune the position in between speeds so the blower would run. You wouldn't believe how dependant you can be on AC on these 100 degree days. So I set out to replace the switch but could not find a good repair procedure. In the process of replacing the switch I put this procedure together. I hope this helps others out. The switch cost me $32 from the dealer. A small price to pay for comfort or having to replace the entire HVAC control panel.

I myself get the dealership to put it in, and to date now since 2006 I am on my 12th blower switch.. and they keep telling me that its the switch that keeps goin but will not look into it more and see what is causing it to fail so many times.. has any body else have a solution?? what a pain in the ass it is to have it go out when you need it most.. for me it goes out on really hot days or really cold days.. go figure. and so frustrating.. every time it goes it 75 bucks.. and the blower switch lasts from 2 weeks to 8 months!.

The blower switch is really just a mechanical contact that is moved by plastic gear attached to the knob assembly. I was having intermittent A/C light turning on and off and after i removed the blower switch I took it apart by pushing off the detents around the switch housing there will be a copper plate and six copper contacts. I I noticed they had a bit of gunk built up where the connections between the plate and contacts are so i cleaned it by gently scraping with a small screwdriver to take the grease and the gunk off and then with a pencil eraser i finished cleaning off the gunk. after which , i placed some dielectric grease back on the contacts and plate. put everything back together and problem solved

Mudmanmike.. does the steps to replace the blower switch for a 2004 santa fe work for a 2006 santa fe aswell?

Ok, I found while inspecting the inner workings of the switch the bloody plastic was melted so the copper contactor that's spring loaded to slide cant move hence your contacts don't meet. Crap design so hang your head in shame who ever designed this switch.

Would a problem with the Blower Speed Control Switch cause the blower motor Relay to constantly keep clicking on and off?
