Default Supplemental Restraint (SRS) no light

Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Air Bag System (ABS) (no cluster light on start up)

Just purchased a used 2002 Sonata GLS V6.

Car has an SRS – Air Bags

As I am now learning this car and reading the owners manual, I notice that the SRS light never illuminates when the vehicle first turns on.

I checked the 2 fuses, they were ok.

I have an OBD II – No codes –

Assume a special scanner is required, correct?
if so which type?

In the meantime, I will check to see if the SRS control module is plugged in.

Could be a cluster bulb. maybe bulb removed by previous owner ??

Any other suggestions before heading to the dealer for a scan?

thanks. PS I understand this is a safety feature :-)

OBD II has nothing to do with SRS. Nothing.

HiScan or GDS

unplugging the module makes the light go on immediately by a bridge in the harness connector

unfortunately very likely to be on older pre-owned cars where people tend to take shortcuts to avoid expense ...
