Default Starting after getting gas....

I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and another part mounted on the back side of the intake which solved the problem which you speak of.....

2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS 2.5L V6, Automatic, All Power, 120K miles

Regardless of how much fuel I have or how much I put in, my Sonata has difficulty starting after refueling. If it does start, it will continuously stall UNLESS I rev the engine at 2,000+ RPMS for at least 1 minute before putting it in gear.

I have noticed that old filling stations with slower pumps do NOT cause this problem. It only occurs at modern filling stations that pump gas into my car FAST.

It appears my car is choking on fumes momentarily. I tried keeping the gas cap off while starting it but this did not lessen or resolve the problem.

I've had the car for 2 years and it's always done this. What is causing it?

Thanks in advance!

Have you replaced your purge valve yet? This is a classic purge valve problem.

Purge valve.... you drawing in fuel vapors from the canister in an uncontrolled fashion, effectively flooding the engine untill the vapors clear the charchol bed and you hit fresh air.. cycle repeats itself nextime you re-fuel and displaced air from tank vents through the canister and charchol traps the vapors, and you start engine and draw vapors again in uncontrolled fashion until it clears and fresh air now drawn into engine again.. rinse, lather repeat... surprised you dont have a 0441 for incorrect purge flow.......

I've seen the posts for the purge valve but I've had 2 different mechanics tell me that is not the solution. Not that they offer another solution but 1 said it might be an EVAP problem instead. Very recently my check engine light did come on and the codes are:

P1166 - Heated Oxygen, Sensor (BANK 1)
P1167 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (BANK 2)
P0705 - Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit (Park/Reverse/Neutral/Drive/Low Input)

...but the refueling problem has been constant for 2 years, I don't think these codes have anything to do with it, right?

Anyway, ideas welcome and thanks for your posts.
