Default 2010 Elantra rough idle when cold.....

I am writing for my moms car......

She has a 2010 Elantra with 30,000kms on the clock, and we have noticed since new when the vehicle is started cold in the morning it seems to run rough for about 30-60 seconds then stabilizes.

It's almost like it has a slight misfire, or slight fuel flooded from sitting overnight

Now if course we have taken it to the dealership twice for this issue and dropped it off overnight for a cold start, and both times they cannot re-produce the problem.......surprise.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this problem, and what was done to correct it

Thanks
Duro

I have had this problem on some of my past older cars with high miles, but it's unusual on a car with that few kms.

Are you using factory oil filter? Some aftermarket filters cause startup noise or even rough start kind of like the first start after an oil change but it would be uncommon. The other thing I can think of is pull the plugs and make sure they are all in good condition and properly gapped. Other than that I dont really have any ideas.

It's been doing this new, always dealer serviced with synthetic oil.

So yes it has OEM filters,

I guess I am gunna have to hook up my scan tool and start diagnosing because our dealerships are useless and only fix obvious issues which require no diagnostics

I guess you should plug in your scan tool right after a rough start. Some codes will not set off a check engine light. I would hope the dealer scanned when the car came in but you never know.
