Question Chip in key not recognized by car

I have had my 2009 Elantra touring since new. It has just begun to refuse to recognize the chip in the key. We never ever used the spare key that came with the car, and it refuses to recognize that key too. The dealer reprogrammed the car and both keys, and here we are less than a week later, and the same problem! We don't have cell phones, we don't have other keys with chips and we don't have a remote starter. The dealer says that reprogramming everything should do it. Personally, I think it has to be a problem with the receiver (computer) in the dash. Do any others have this experience, and what was it?

I place my bet on a faulty antenna. It's basically coil around the ignition switch that emits a signal to the chip in the key. If the chip responds with the correct code, the coil sends a signal to the security system that all is good. The odds of you having two bad keys are pretty slim.

Had this exact problem a time or two when I had my '07 Santa fe, Called up the dealer and the lead Tech said the antenna, he'd seen it a few times.

His advise was to gently tap on the ring around the ignition switch with something hard, worked like a charm. He said they become unseated occasionally.
