Default Replacing self leveling shocks

I am new to this forum and am looking for some advice. I own a 2008 Santa Fe - the 7 seater 2.2 (UK) model which has self leveling suspension. The two rear shocks need replacing. Hyundai have quoted me nearly £1600 to supply and fit these! I am looking for a more reasonable alternative and am thinking of replacing with standard shocks as found on the five seater. Can anybody see any major problems with this? Would I need to replace the springs too? Any help appreciated.

£1600 is a "good" price as they can be up to £1000 each + fitting elsewhere!

A 2008 Santa Fe in the UK should still be under it's 5-year warranty so why can't you get it done that way.

Theoretically, it's a straight swap as long as you do them in pairs but I've not heard of anyone who's actually done that - partly because the self-levellers aren't fitted as OE in many countries because they don't get the 7-seat option.

There's also a UK Owners Forum at HOCGB Forum which you're more than welcome to join as well.

Thanks Rupert for your response.

Suspension parts are only covered under warranty up to 60000 miles.

"Good" price or not it is still more than I want to spend.
