1/2 tank of fuel.. then empty.. then 1/2 tank again after a while. Has anyone seen this? Know it can be an issue on the 08's.
Also, will this intermittent issue throw a code? Can hardly wait to talk to my dealer if it doesn't...

Never saw it put the CEL on.. that's why I was wondering if it will store a code.

Scan it. Intermittents will set codes, too.
FWIW, the codes for sensor A are P0461 (not sensing level change = stuck float or connection issue), 0462 (voltage abnormally low = bad sensor or connection issue), 0463 (voltage too high = bad sensor or connection issue) and 0464 (voltage is jumping around too much = stuck float or connection issue), and the corresponding codes for sensor B are P2065, 2066, 2067 and 2068. To answer you other question .. there should be an engine light as well if the problem persists for '2 driving cycles'. These problems are nearly always on the sender side, but if there aren't any codes being set, then it is possible that you have a rather unusual problem on the gauge end of the equation. Erratic fuel level... replace both sender with the new style part.. common on the shelf part for us..
Canderson pretty well nailed it, scan it and see if related code(s) hiding in the PCM. Have fuel level down a good bit, less fuel to splash around while in service. Working currently with bummed shop tiny laptop, my home 'puter on fritz currently, tower out to in-law' younger brother for repair (independent IT company).. so I am not on board as much currently

Question, my car is out of warranty. Can I do this myself. Is there an extension on this repair if a car is out of warranty.

No warranty extension that I know of, unless you got some extended service contract..
Do it yourself,,,, you can get seats out and expose the the top of the units, but you need the HYUNDAI tool to grab the retaining rings to rotate and release modules from tank to remove and replace sender attached to side of module

We've got a couple of threads around here (try searching 'sender' and 'fuel' together) that talk about various experiences with both dealer and DIY changes of these units. sbr's advice about the tool is worth heeding. We've seen a few folks try to bang off the rings with a hammer and slot blade, but nearly everything I've read here about people trying to do it that way is accompanied by words that get turned into asterisks by the board software You'll also find that many have had issues about properly resealing and avoiding spillage during the R&R that leaves a fuel smell from the back seat, so use caution.
