Default Santa Fe 2012 Hub Spacer and VEGA body kit

Hi There,

Newbie here.... please don't crusify me! lol...I've got a quick one for you guys... just wonderin' if anyone has tried to put on spacers on the hubs. I think, putting them on will give the santy a wider stance (obviously) which will make it a bit better (aesthetically - flush with the wheel well or about 10 mm out). Also, would putting spacers on ruin the ride/suspension? And would it void my warranty?

Lastly, has anyone seen an actual santy with the VEGA body kit on. I'm seriously considering the VEGA body kit to be installed as a birthday gift to myself! Would it void my warranty if I install it?

Thanks heaps...

I'm no help - never tried the spacers or seen the body kit. But I wouldn't put a body kit on an SUV. Body kits belong on sports cars. If my Santa Fe were to get a kit it would be a lift kit. But that would look foolish on a Santa Fe

Spacers and longer bolts are a cheap but not recommended alternative to changing the wheel rims to get less inset, lower ET number.

Altering the track, by either method, will affect the ride and handling, probably adversely.

This would void the warranty in many countries, you'd have to check with Hyundai Australia.

Many Australian fit lift kits to everything !

3mm spacers work on most cars without adverse effects. Anything above that and it's hub centric spacers and longer bolts. Really wide applications require short hub bolts and hub centric spacers with their own bolts for the wheels.
Having said that, none of this is a recommendation, just information.
Do it right and get new wheels with the correct offset then while you're at it, add a bit more rubber.

Santa Fe owners are notoriously pragmatic, so take this with a grain of salt. But what's the point of spending money to make a Hyundai look better at the potential expense of mechanical reliability? Isn't that what BMWs are for?

^^There are also some owners who just can't resist screwing around with their cars to dfferentiate them from the "masses". It's called the "mod disease" and yes I'm affilicted.

Given the engineering time spent trying to get the steering and suspension geometry "right" for best driving experience, it seems a shame to artificially create large offsets in the wheels that ruin a very nice bit of engineering effort just for the 'looks'.

That's why spacers are not the best path.

The same sorts of problems are going to be created with spacers, rims with unusual offsets, or anything else that moves those tires towards the outside of the fenders. There's no "best path" when that path starts moving the offset significantly.
