1st position should turn on your tail lights and quarter lights (4 corners)
2nd position will turn on your headlights

I'm guessing you are in the uk with a late'06 or early '07 car.

You should never have any lights on at the front with none at the rear, and vice versa ( except brake lights)

Sounds like a blown fuse or busted relay.

It's a lousy picture but this section of the headlight should light up with the lights turned on in any position:

And is the clear section under the main and dipped light bulbs in the photo below:

If you reach behind the headlight the sidelight bulbs are the closest to the wing on each side, and although awkward they are a quarter turn to remove. Turn the socket not the wire. If you have a meter you can test to see if the bulb socket is getting power, or just get yourself some replacement w5w/wedge type bulbs and try them.

Here in north america that part does not light up. I would like if it did.

I always assumed the orange section lit up as marker lights? Looking on google it seems odd but are the indicators are used instead? I really quite liked the illuminated brow styling.

I'd be tempted to take the headlight out and see if there isn't a blanking plate/bung that you could remove to make them work. Must be a relatively simple mod?

Not sure I'd fancy opening up the units but this is effective: Daylight Running Lights for Hyundai Sta Fe DRL Philippines - 5732910

These units are off the shelf but not cheap:

There's a spot on the back of the headlight on our model that looks like it is where the bulb would have gone, I may at some point drill it out and stick an led bulb in it, just have to wait for the wife to forget she said no more lights!

I actually ordered 8 of these, 2 for my new reverse lights, and 6 extra to sell to a local led dealer, but they would be perfect to throw in there once I make sure heat won't be a problem.

By the way, anyone needing led bulbs should look through DX.com 's list it's amazing and dirt cheap with free shipping, tho it can sometimes take 3-4 weeks to get your stuff
