Default Rough engine after adding fuel

I own a 2007 Hyundai santa fe. Whenever I add fuel to the gas tank, be it 5gal-10gal or filled the engine will run real rough for 3-4 minutes after doing so. All other times the engine runs fine. This only happins when I add fuel to the tank. Has anyone experenced this problem or heard of this OR does anyone have an idea as to the cause? HELP. Bob

Hey Bob welcome to the forum. Has your vehicle always done this or is it a recent issue? Also what about the gas you are buying? Does it always come from the same station? If so you may want to try a different one.

Replace the purge control valve... you do not state though, but I will assume it is a 2.7L engine we playing with..

During refeuling, displaced air from tank is vented out through canister, the charcol bed traps the vapors, then when started, the uncontrolled vacuum leak draws through the vapored charcol in uncontrolled fashion, hence the rough run till the vapors drawn off and leak now drawing fresh air.

Really nice explanation of what happens when this valve isn't working right.

Have replaced several over the years with a code and symtoms described; wasn't really sure of the physics of it.
