I agree that those 2 topics can get heated at times. But for me they are quite different...
- One is about a subject that may affect how long your engine will last...
- the other may affect how long your life will last...

I really like these Continental tires, they may be the best "all-around" tire for the Santa Fe. I may look to pickup a set when by Bridgestone's wear out, and at the rate their tread is dropping they probably won't last too many more miles.

I'm on set #2 now (Nitto CrossTek), and my only real complaint has been the road noise, part of which was self inflicted, but I'll be taking a very long look at those Contis when I'm ready for set #3. They just kind of snuck up on my radar a month or two ago. Tread doesn't look all that aggressive for a tire that people say works pretty well in the snow, so I'll be keeping a watch on the reviews. Test track results say it definitely works well in the wet and dry, though.

Based on Consumer Reports of the time - for all seasons with good snow characteristics, I went with a set of Nokian WR G2 Sport Utility. Got me up the driveway last winter.

Almost a 1 1/2 yrs with no problems, I deflate 3-4 pounds during the hardcore winter months for better traction in snowy conditions. Just don't have the time or money to change out tires every winter.

So we just had our first know fall and after reading all these posts I almost didn't want to leave the house. I'm running the stock Bridgestones and they were fantastic..? 33 psi, I was driving normal not smashing down the gas pedal and again.. I was impressed I won't be buying winter tires this year..
Don't know why everyone are having such issues with them..?

Mine performed terribly in very wet, slushy snow, when we got several inches of it on a wacky day last october or november. I am guessing that the tread pattern on the stock bridgestones fills up rapidly in this instance and so you have very little traction left as the rubber gets completely covered.

If you were driving in powder, nearly anything would have worked. However, if you get into really wet snow, the tread just packs up and turns into white donuts.

Not the same vehicle but we had a very light dusting of snow here in Ontario,Canada today, when I started to pull away in my stick with traction on the car just spun like crazy! It wasn't very good honestly in the snow and this was literally just a dusting, I think I'm going to need to get some winters soon!
