Default 2007 SF. Engine light and eratic idle

Just got back from Afghanistan. My wife was complaining of the ESC light came on and off. Rough idle. Also has a check engine lite. Any ideas?

Well first step would be to have the code scanned then go from there.

Scan the PCM, TCM and ABS/ESC modules for code(s)

Proceed from there.

Guess I need to break down and buy a code reader. I did some google searches. Have found some similar Hyundai related problems reported but the rest of the link was not helpful. Some report TPS problems. One person replaced the TPS but could not reset his computer. Can a TPS be changed on an 07? Will I run in to the same problem? Can seem to find the obd port. Anyone familiar with this model?

Could visit dealer and let trained tech using GDS do a fault code scan of entire vehicle in 1 shot, and then proceed from there.

Lots of MIL to be found, over 100 or more single engine codes for systems monitored for input/output that PCM could see out of parameter to illuminate MIL. Have you scanned it yet to know what circuit(s) been determined to be at fault ?

Some report TPS problems.
Yep, that could be a problem, but not for rough run as you state..

One person replaced the TPS but could not reset his computer.
Did not have proper equipment, and there is a PCM update that Hyundai says to do with the replacement of the TPS.. Program can be done as stand alone, I do it all the time and wait for them to come back for TPS when MIL illuminate with the offending codes stored.

Can a TPS be changed on an 07?
Yes ..

2.7L = 35107-3E100-NFFF
3.3L = 35107-3C100-NFFF

Will I run in to the same problem?
What codes you got ?

Can seem to find the obd port.
Under dash

Anyone familiar with this model?

Yes, been playing withthem since they came out as new model in 2007...
Up to date for recalls ?? Got VIN ?

Spoke with my wife. She said it was the "esc off" light.
I should clarify about the idle. It goes from idle and jumps a few hundred rpm the back to idle...over and over again. Just went to the car and started it up. Engine light is on and idle is not jumping up and down but the check engine light is still on and is idling at around 1300. I need to buy a code reader. Been meaning to get one. I mess around with older car and only played with obd one cars. Don't think the car will make it to the dealer "driving". When I purchased the car it was about a month from the warranty expiring. I took it in cause it seemed to have a flat spot when accelerating. Not very noticeable but irritating to me. The mech said there was no problem. I live in Hawaii so everything is very expensive from the towing costs to the mech just opening the hood. Appreciate the help. I know every problem can't be trouble shot and fixed online but would like to try. I will post the fault code when I get a scanner.

Oldest one in the book...

Replace : TPS using applicable number for engine listed above

Update PCM to latest version software per Hyundai Motor Company

Thanks. I called Hyundai. They can not find a TPS by itself. Looks like you have to buy the whole throttle body. About $500 and some change. I gave them your part number. They have it in stock but said they could not cross reference it to my vehicle. My Hyundai is an 07 with the 2.7. Is this part number for another vehicle but will work on mine? Appreciate the help.

They blowing smoke up up your back side...

2007 with 2.7 = 35107-3E100-FFF (or NFFF,, minor number change)

$33 and change, labor to install, and update the PCM,, all done

Been doing these silly TPS sensor / program on 2.7/3.3/3.8 for 3+yr now...

Hyundai dealer that cannot look up parts, that beyond funny, rather pathrtic really..

TSB 10-FL-010 has the part numbers.. smart part fella should know how to look this up himself.. I have to tell my guys how to do it as they going to get customer who going to ask something about a part,, and they going to look really stupid when they can't pull up bulletin to explain the part change to customer..
