Default 2011 Santa Fe Stall Problem

My 2011 Santa Fe stalled while I was going 60 mph on a major freeway at 10:30 pm. It was very dangerous and scary, but I was able to pull off to the side of the road and get towed to safety. The "malfunction light" came on and the dealership said it had a code of PO638. They were aware of the problem and performed a software upgrade. I believe the cars should be recalled before someone gets killed, especially since Hyundai is aware of the problem. Has anyone else had this happen? Who would I contact to try to get them to do a recall -- consumer protection agency?

Random ocurrance,, we not flooded with 2011 Santa Fe stalling.. the TSB is for how they want dealer to repair a particular issue



Description: This bulletin provides information related to the ECM software update of some 3.5L vehicles that may experience check engine light on with the following DTC:

- P0638: Throttle Actuator Control Range/Performance(Bank1)

In addition the following DTC related to a limp home condition may have occurred:

- P1295: ETS System Malfunction - Power management mode engaged
- P2106: Throttle Actuator Control System - Limited Performance mode

Applicable Vehicles:
10~12MY SANTA FE (CM) 3.5L vehicles

Thanks. They said the problem should be fixed with the upgrade, so I am hoping it never happens again.

this happened to us driving on the interstate also, no response to gas pedal. We were towed to a dealership. Check Engine light had come on. They replaced the oxygen sensor. it has driven without incident since then (Memorial Day weekend it happened)

You both may want to report these incidents to Home | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) so there is a record of it. If enough incidents happen then a recall is issued. Did either of you try to restart the cars after you coasted to the side of the road. Prior incidents reported on this forum said the cars restarted.

Default our car started right up.

Our car started right up to climb onto the tow truck but it was acting so strangely we felt it best not to try to drive it. We were on interstate and not close to any dealership.

Default wynn's fuel treatment

We were also told by the dealership to put Wynn's fuel treatment into our tank about every 5th fill up. Do you think this is good advice?
