Shortly after leaving the lot, the low air pressure light came on, and the check engine light.
The tires themselves state Max Pressure 44lbs. I checked, and each had around 28 lbs. So I inflated up to 44 lbs (all tires). The light is still on. Do I likely have a bad sensor? Can a tire sales place check that for me or do I need to take it to Hyundai? Thanks, Micallen |

Drive it awhile. The light will go off in a mile or two.
You might want to decrease that pressure - just 4-6psi; for a more-supple ride.

That's the maxium pressure they can handle, cold. The factory recommended PSI for the stock tire size can be found on the plate on the pillar when opening the driver's side door. I beleive it's 30-32 depending on tire. At least that's what's in my '07's owner's manual.

Could be a bad sensor, or a bad battery on one (or more) sensor(s) (it happens, but not often). Could be the TPMS transceiver is malfunctioning. Determining WHICH one is the culprit - that's going to be the "fun" part. You may be time/frustration/money ahead taking it to a Dealer.

Does it have warranty? Take it back to the dealer, they need to fix it. Bumper to bumper warranty is 5 years/60k miles. Tire inflation is 32lbs per Hyundai, I run 34lbs becouse I sometimes drive at high speeds for long distances, we have fast speed limits here.

I run 35 PSI (cold) in the front, and 32 PSI (cold) in the rear, and I don't have the OEM tire feathering issue, and I am a very spirited driver to boot. I run more in the front as the front is carrying more weight than the rear. Duro |
