It's 15 years old. You're going to have to get the timing belt done if it hasn't been done recently. Low miles is great if the car's been maintained, does the seller have service records?

BTW the EPA estimate for the '98 Accent are 23/32 with 26 MPG the overall average.

Other than the floormat it LOOKS like a pretty clean car. According to Kelly Blue Book that's not a horrible price. Get a mechanic to give it a once over and offer him $2,000. See if he'll budge on the price. Stress the age

The dealer is using it as his personal car he's been driving it for the last 3k miles all highway for the last 6-7 months and the car was serviced by Hyundai up until 7 months ago when the guy sold it to the dealer it looks like a pretty nice car but 2500 plus tax seems like a lot also

Used cars are going for a premium these days. Looks very clean for a rust belt car, cars from the north usually have holes in the sides. The auto transmission is the weakest link in these cars. If the timing belt was changed within the last 5 years, and the transmission shifts good, the car needs no work, I would offer $2300 for it, becouse of the low miles and above average condition. Get the vin#, find out which dealer serviced the car if its local, you could see the service records at the Hyundai dealer.
