Hi all, Great site, First time posting a thread.

I Have a 1998 Hyundai Excel (X3) 2 door, the window on the driver side (Right, Australia) is stuck. I was winding the window up (from fully down) got about 1/5th of the way up and applied a bit of force(stupid me) and heard a click/break.

Now the handle will spin around clockwise and counter-clockwise with no movement of the window.

I managed to pull the door trim off, all the cables/wires of the window mechanism(?)/regulator seem to be attached, not broken or frayed. It seems the 'golden regulator' [where the window crank handle connects into] is broken, I can turn the handle and there is no movement of the 'white reel' with the cables wrapped around it.

I can manually push up and pull down the window about 1-2 cm and see the white reel spin about 1/4 or less of a revolution. It won't budge past those points. So my window is stuck at 4/5ths open.

The window doesn't seem to be getting stuck in the groves or holders, it seems the only thing restricting the movement is the 'golden regulator.'/white reel being "stuck"?

I'm guessing when you normally crank the window handle the white reel in the 'golden regulator' spins and feeds/takes cable and lowers/raises the window.

When I crank the handle the white reel doesn't spin AT ALL not even the 1/4 revolution that I can make it move by pushing the window directly. I can rotate the crank handle either direction freely as many times as I want. The only thing that seems to move is a "pot-rivit" looking like thing 2mm diameter directly opposite the crank handle (located on the 'golden regulator' opposite side of crank handle, seems to be where the centre of the white reel is located.

Has anyone ever had this problem before?

Is there any way to "unstick" the white reel? and reconnect it so the the window cranks up and down with the handle?

Or is there no way to fix it? and should I just cut the cable so I can push the window up and put a piece of wood under the window so its closed, and buy a whole new "window mechanism" 45$AUD (which looks like a big pain to install and align/glue etc.)

Thank you guys :)

and apologies for not knowing the names of parts.

Let me know if there is anything else I need to specify.
