I've been shopping for a new battery for my Sonata since it is approaching four years of age. A few interesting points:

1. Replacement batteries for the Sonata seem to be a bit unusual and a little hard to find because of the case design.

2. I was surprised to find so many batteries with filler caps. I thought these went out with the dinosaur - being replaced by sealed, so-called "maintenance free" batteries. Why is this?? I never had any problem with sealed batteries.

3. Walmart has the cheapest replacement at $65 - the others I found were in the $90 range.

I stopped by Autozone about 4 hours ago and did not find a battery listed in their catalog for the '06 Sonata - most recent listing for Hyundai was 2005.

What did you pay??

But more important, you have an 07 Sonata and it broke? I thought the 3 Yr Warranty might help.

I hope you didn't buy one as a spare. They go bad. Nothing like a fresh battery. Check the dates!

Nah, I had 50k+ miles at that point, winter was here, and it was cranking weak. I have a batt tester and it confirmed it was a little weak, so I just drove to Autozone right then and bought one for install.

No biggie.

My local walmart finally stock 124R-3.
I replaced my 06 sonata lx battery from walmart.
It was $65.

Interstate battery also fit in my sonata but it cost me $130. So I installed walmart battery.

My 2003 Sonata still has the original factory battery- 25k miles only. How much longer will my luck hold out? LOL!

I have an '06 sonata, 125k miles, with original battery. I am, also, thinking about replacing the battery. However, I don't think I want to just buy the least expensive battery. There has to be batteries that are rated better than others and should last longer than others. How about the Diehard Gold or the Interstate Mega-Tron? Anyone have any recommendations for a quality, long lasting battery. The battery from the factory served me well. What battery did Hyundai put in the Sonatas in 2006?
