Default Took Apart Headlight and Painted

My goal was to take apart the head light and replace the lens, paint reflector and put a new plastic clear headlight casing on.

First thing I did was obviously take out the headlights from my car. Then I preheated the oven to 220 and left it to reach that temperature. The lights are sealed with silicone so instead of using a heat gun to take them apart i decided the oven was easier. When the oven reached its temperature i put them in for 8 mins

Headlight cupcakes anyone?

I took them out and slowly went along the edges with a butter knife. I moved down the headlight a couple of inches each time and lifted a bit. Then I put them back in the oven and left them in for 5 mins and repeated the proces and i was able to pull them apart with a little force but Be careful. if you pull to hard you can break the pastic! You'll know when its time for them to come apart.

After getting everything apart I placed all the pieces on the table
(Each piece comes apart by a couple screws. Just look for them)

Removed the reflector and sanded it down, then painted.

(Stole fedges idea lol. Hey it looked good!)
Painted even sprays across the reflectors

(Left is just primed, right is first coat of silver paint)

Both painted

Let them dry and bada bing bada boom. Re assembled (Slightly)

After that was all done I assembled the back together completely and sealed it with silicone. Then tied knots around the headlights with rope to keep them closely secured so the silicone can keep them shut tight

Pretty simple guys. Just a little time consuming thats all.
And thanks to fedge for all the help, it went smooth

You should have dropped in some HID projectors while they were opened up! could have dramatically improved your night time vision. Do you have any more images of what the projectors themselves look like? If they were mounted to anything? I am thinking of retrofitting my headlights but I wanted to see what I've got to work with before I commit to the retro.

Why do i need to buy HID projectors? I was just going to by an HID kit eventually and drill into the headlight cap and fit them in. I've seen many users on here do it.

HID projectors will give you a much wider and more intense beam. PnP kits will work in the projectors of this car (even though they were designed around halogen type bulbs) however if you put in a proper HID projector your output will beat your halogen projectors 10 fold. I installed HID projectors on my old Accord, they easily lite up (with equal light distribution) 6 lanes of traffic. The halogens on the Sonata are pretty good, but I would say at best they light up 3 lanes with uneven distribution (ie, more intense in the center lane and less around the outer lanes)

I actually had a brand new set of after market headlights that i took the lenses off of and used on my OEMs lol.

And just wondering.. Are those the halo fog lights? If so how long have you had them and are there any problems with them?
How was the install
