I don't have any severe front end problems and whether one hour is enough time, probably depends on the quality of the mechanic doing the inspection. ![]() I had two mechanics in my car as I saw them drive by and they also put it up on a lift. I think they actually spent about an hour and a half. ![]() My Sonata only has 62000 miles and and has been lightly driven.

I have just returned to the Dealer for the 3rd time. Now I don't mind authorizing NINETY FIVE dollars, but all the mechanic did aside from leaving a wad of grease on my Car was return it to me with new strut mounts. Did no good. Service manager explained the mechanics don't have time to test drive cars. WHAT? For $95 an hour they should have time. So today the Service Director took me to a special street right in back of the shop. The noise was really bad, he clearly heard it and said it is the sway bar bushings. He did mention other creaks and noises like this was a surprise in the Sonata and I said "yeah but I am not complaining about those noises". The Service Writer did interupt him to mention there has been problems with the Control Arms and bushings. Hopefully my front end will be back to normal soon!

I never have understood this in the Sonata. Arizona's Interstate speed limit is 75 and I always see my highest mileage at high speeds (79) on the well maintained Interstate 40. Why? 30.3 mpg and yes this is the computer estimate is very impressive. The power the engine puts out is also impressive.

Little help guys if you remember. My car is in the garage on the jack.
Do you guys know what is the easiest way to lower the spring+strut combo. I say easiest because I changed the struts my self about a year and half ago but I literally took everthing apart which I know now is not necessary. I am replacing my control arm upper - I got the ball joint one to come out, now I need to work on the two side bolts. ![]() Do I take the yellow bolt off? This is the sway bar link. The red one is behind the cup where the strut sits. What is that bolt for anyways? When I take off, does it actually loosen the cup to where I can drop the strut more? IT's hollow, but then I see a metal piece on the KYB which I am assuming is suppose to let you know to line it up...so it won't go thru the hole any further. ![]() Or do I take this one out? It's the one securing the fork that is attached to the bottom of the strut/spring cup. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry for being impatient guys, you do NOT need to lower strut ....don't touch it lol
I figured out a way to do it. Little bit of McGyver and maneuvering, it can be done without touching the struth. Will be a complete write up in the bit. |
