I just bought a 2009 sonata limited v6 with the navi package about 2 weeks ago. It has 88k on it and I think its overdue in some maintenence.
I changed the oil and oil filter and the engine air filter. Has new tires too. Guys have any recommendations on what to do now? i'm thinking the following: 1. Transmission fluid Flush and replace 2. Power steering replacement 3. Coolant replacement. 4. Brake fluid 5. cabin air filter 6. Spark plugs 7. fuel filter any input would help, Thanks guys. -John |

Take a look at my thread,
Definitely, I would say do not try to do the PSF "Flush" yourself, unless you just use a turkey baster very patiently little by little. Transmission Fluid Change, theres a pdf out there somewhere I just cant find it on google right now. Air Filter, and cabin air filter, see manual IDK about the other stuff. |

At 88k miles I would ATF fluid exchange, you can do it yourself. Do you have records of maintenance done to the car thus far..this would help out. Spark plugs at 100k Don't touch fuel filter Cabin air filter - get on ebay Coolant dependent if it has been done at 50k - I do mine every 50k I'd check brake pads n rotors before I would worry about bleeding it. my .02 |

Well I have very little experience in doing maintenence and powertrain work. I'm afraid i'll screw up the car if I Do it myself.
So I'm gonna take it to get the ATF flushed and exchanged and same with Power Steering. I figured i might as well take it to hyundai and keep the fluids OEM. as for the spark plugs, and cabin filter and coolant, i'll do myself. |

You Weill do the spark plugs yourself? Looks like you have a v6 from your info. V6 spark plug replacement is not easy if you were honest in saying you weren't comfortable doing a transmission fluid exchange. Its much much harder.

My Sonata's cabin air filter was incredibly dirty when I replaced it at 60k miles. I don't know if it had ever been changed. It's pretty easy to do.
I had the dealer change the brake fluid, since you need to actuate the ABS pump to do it properly. I think it cost $79. I changed the manual tranny fluid myself using genuine Hyundai fluid. The fluid was $17/quart. The OP has an automatic, so I would probably recommend the dealer, so you'll be getting OE fluid, although it's not critical to have the dealer do it. I have yet to do the coolant. I bought a gallon of Hyundai fluid from the dealer for $20.

kn50wa, I just bought a New battery from hyundai a week ago.
Well I still need the Tranny fluid replaced. Dealer wants $220 to flush and replace... thats pretty **** expensive for a tranny fluid flush no? I wanna install HID xenons too maybe 5000k. |
