Default 2007 Cup Holder Replacement

I have a 2007 Ltd. The little flap in the cup holder in the console broke of on one end. Hyundai sold me the entire cup holder which includes even the beige cover door. They don't sell just the flap that folds to hold smaller drinks.

Anyone know how to get the trim piece on the console easily as the cup older has four screws that are under the trim.

I was thinking of trying to get the broken tip out of the hole and the flex the flap out of the new one and just flex it back into the old cup holder that is already installed.

Ideas, thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

My lid pops out from time to time. I've been able to get it back in OK but I've never popped it out. I think you can safely grab it in the middle and pull it up to get it to pop out, but BE SURE the flap is horizontal first. If you have big hands you may be able to put a thumb on each end of the flap and hold as you pull the flap from the middle. If your hands are small get a helper.

In a way it's like stringing a bow; don't try to bend just one side or you'll snap it. Gently bend both sides at the same time. Good luck! I've had the center console off a time or two and I wouldn't recommend removing it just to get at the screws.

Remove the panel, with it in your lap or on table top, roll it over, remove the 4 screws I think it is, and swap the assembly.

Maybe 10-15 minute round trip.

I took the rubber flap and ground down the broken end till smooth. Hard part was drilling out the broken piece in the cup holder body, small drill and paper clip.

Put rubber flap in vice and drilled hole to fit a finishing nail the same size as the hole, Cut it off to correct length and tapped it into the drilled hole.

Flexed the rubber cup holder into place and good as new.

Thanks

Bill
