Unhappy Screwed now. 2+ wheels rub on wheel arches

Argh!
After careful shopping and sizing of 2+ rims for my 2010 Sonata, I settled on 18"x8" rims and 235x45x18 wheels. tire store and wheel shop all agreed these would work well.

Not so.

The wheels rub the rear wheel arches with a passenger in the rear seat - specifically, the slightest bump that compresses the suspension scrapes the tire edge against the inner lip.

Has anyone had an luck with coil spring spacers or other fixes? Dont want to pay to get my wheel arch lips rolled, and of course, can send back the wheels and tires now.

Help and advice needed.

Default Offset is 38mm.

According to all the tire / wheel calculators I could find, this would fit.
Specs are RPM R-505-18" x 8" Painted/Black, 5/114.3, 38mm. Purchased at 1010Tires.com.

Sooo how far past this are you?

Fitment Guarantee

To the best of our knowledge, the 1010TIRES.COM vehicle, wheel, tire and tire and wheel package selectors are accurate. Due to the possibility of typographical errors, sources of the data we collect, modified vehicles, or other factors, our proprietary selectors may not always be 100% accurate., or current.
1010TIRES.COM goes through many steps to ensure that all orders we ship will fit your disclosed vehicle. Please be aware that if you are installing aftermarket wheels,and/or changing tire sizes you are customizing your vehicle, therefore, they may not fit exactly the same as the factory settings.
We guarantee that the products you have purchased will fit your vehicle, and will not damage or adversely affect the operation of your vehicle.
When you place an order, you must include as much detailed vehicle information as possible (i.e. 2006 Honda Accord is not enough. We need to know it's a 2006 Honda Accord LX Sedan 4 cyl). If you provide us with incorrect or incomplete vehicle information, we cannot guarantee fitment.
After checking your vehicle information, we may come to the conclusion that the products you have ordered will not fit your vehicle. In this case, you will be notified and will be provided with alternative options. If you still feel confident about your original purchase, we will ship it to you with a disclaimer to that effect. In this case, we do not provide our Fitment Guarantee and if you need to return the order we will issue in-store credit only.
Due to mechanical wear and tear of a vehicle, tires and/or wheels may not fit as intended. It is impossible to take these factors into account when verifying fitment. Therefore we rely on our collective experience and expertise, and consult numerous fitment sources, on and off line. On rare occasions when a customer claims the product does not fit we reserve the right to refuse such a claim. Return/refund policy will apply.

Both tires and wheels are new (less than a week or two old - wheels arrived first, then special order tires), but officially - at least from the tires perspective, they are used. Wheels were purchased using their website selector for make/model/year and the +2 calculator.

Odd, is the consensus among wheel retailers is that Sonatas are THAT difficult to fit properly? Read several threads in this forum about oversize wheels/tires and nothing about how an 8" wheel or 235 aspect tire was too big - some of the posters are running 19" wheels!

Appreciate the summary of the fitment guarantee, but looking for advice about coil spring spacers or other answers - other than returning the wheels.

Wheels were purchased one place, tires another place, with mounting/balancing. Trying not to undo the transaction, but find a solution that allows me to keep whats installed.

The rubbing is just a the inner edge of the lip. Hoping spring spacers will work (rather than rolling the lip). Thanks.

Anyone with experience using spacers to limit spring compression/travel. Anyone with experience using spacers to slightly raise the height of the car?

That wheel isn't that much larger than the stock 17 inch ones. Seems very odd that they would rub at all. And you def shouldn't have to roll your fenders.

My 19x8.5 +35 Gen coupe wheels were just about flush with the fender and did rub. Rolling the fenders did the trick. But you have an odd case. I would imagine 18x8 +38 would fit much better than the 19s I have. You sure there isn't a spacer or anything like that? Rolling the fenders is probably the best bet. The spring spacers I used (Mr.Gasket H spacer or something like that) weren't that great at stiffening the spring.

That was also what I was thinking that there must be a spacer of some kind on there. I rub now on that plastic part where the fender and rear bumper connect since I lowered it on coilovers and a 15mm spacer on the stock 16 inch wheels on 225/55 R16 Yokohama.
