Did this RAISE the car height or just prevent the spring from compressing to a certain height? Important consideration for me.
Considering something like this approach, spring spacers and lip rolling. Of the spring spacers I have seen online they say stuff like "adds 1 inch." Did your raise the car ride height? If you can recall, what brand did your get for your Hyundai? Also, when you rolled the rear fender lips, what did you do (if anything) about the point where the rear bumper attachment is into the wheel well. Its pretty high up there in the arch. Curious if you tried to roll the lip past that point. Last edited by rclarksf; 11-21-2012 at 04:33 PM. Reason: Additions from original poster. |

OK everyone. Here is the update.
You got it wrong. Essentially, the rear fender wells are double-walled, held together with spot wells. If you roll them, the welds break separating the fenders. Not sure what fenders the contributors here did this with, but 2010 Sonata is doublewalled fender lips. If you roll, you break the welds and completely fu*k things up. Additionally, don't know if any of you experienced this, but the paint on my Sonata has the depth of a gnats ass - its so thin that just opening the door on a hard surface, dinks the paint. Ugh. As I began try to roll the fenders, I quickly discovered the welds and stopped before I hit on, but not before activity of bending the lip between two welds broke the paint off. THE ONLY way to roll lips on double walled fenders is how I'm doing it now and sharing for to benefit from so that 2010 Sonata owners don't go down this road unadvised: 1. Cut the inside of the lip towards the outside so that you have bending areas that are not where the welds are, then bend those. An expensive lesson for me. But hopefully those planning this will remember that you can only use a fender roller or a baseball bat on single wall fender lips. Thanks for everyone's input. |
