After losing 4 bulbs trying to put the new light in from the bottom on my 07 Sonata's high brake light, I finally figured out, that if you take a dremel or other small cutting tool and cut of the tab on the bulb socket, the whole assembly will slide back into place from the top. Cut the tab even with the holes where the two wires go into the socket, and you should have no problems.

lol I finallllly changed mine over the weekend....it is by far the oddest design on this car...seems like every other bulb has a relatively easy access...except this one. My guess is they changed this on the YF?
Oh yeah...I did scratch my tint a little bit with the light housing on the inside

I see waaay too many Sonatas on the road with that bulb burnt out. I guess the factory bulb is garbage or the circuit is high voltage. I contemplated putting an LED bulb in there at one point since they seem to last longer but (knock on wood) mine has been good since I replaced it last year. |

HMR...that's a good question about the brake light switch.
I had my ECS light going on and off for awhile now. Finally got it fixed at the dealer yesterday, while the car was in for a TSB regarding the TPS Sensor. When they called to tell me the car was ready, they also said the 3rd brake light bulb was burnt out. I think he said it was something like 65 bucks to replace. I will be replacing that myself. Any tips to make things easier? |

Tell me about it. I laughed at the service manager when he told me the price. It's bad enough it cost me 325 for a TPS sensor and Brake Light switch. 2 items I could have done myself. Only reason I couldn't is because the TPS sensor repair requires an update to the ECM software. I suppose I could have done the brake light switch, but the part was 40, and total with install was 70. So I figured what the ****, i'm already getting screwed!
