I think I have one of those; quite handy! Question: in your first picture, what is the dingus at the lower right? Is that some sort of thumbscrew for when you don't need the socket handle? I have one of them for my 1/4" socket set but it's not rubberized. Thanks!

The tool is a ratchet driver, and that thing that looks like a wheel is actually a three-position slider switch: ratchet left, lock (no ratchet feature), and ratchet right. I bought this two or three decades ago in a big department store--thinking that it was really cool and that I might need something like this some day--from a bin full of gizmos, kind of like what you see nowadays in Ross stores, etc.
I don't think these flexible shafts are rubberized. This one is not. My photos are actually links to my Imageshack account, and I've been trying to orient them correctly at that end. They did not transfer from my computer to that site correctly. I've been back to my account and editing (re-orienting) the photos. The last photo has changed here; hopefully it will change again. In the mean time, you'll have to tip your head for viewing.

my passenger bulb just died. i have the factory HIDs. where are you guys getting your replacement bulbs from? do we have to source the bulb from the dealership since places like o'reilly auto/auto zone/advanced auto more than likely dont sell HID bulbs? any insight would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi guys, I'm trying to replace the low beam headlight in my '08 Sonata and having trouble with that third bolt. My hand is too big for me to change the bulb without removing the entire assembly, and I also can't get a wrench/hand in there to take out the bolt/catch it when it comes out. I've put in quite a bit of time to no avail, so I'm thinking I'll just take it to an auto shop and fork over the money... Anyone know what a mechanic should reasonably charge to change a headlight bulb?
Also, while doing all this I managed to melt some of the rubber around the headlight assembly onto my high beam bulbs (yes, I'm really bad with cars). I got most of it off but there is still some on the bulbs- is this ok or do I need to somehow remove the rubber/get new high beams? Thanks for the help.
