G'day everyone-
I just bought a 2004 Elantra GT (49,100 miles, 5sp) and as I'm driving home from the dealer the CEL comes on. Took it to autozone today and the code was P0010 - Camshaft Position-Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance(Bank 1). I've spent a couple hours searching the internet and haven't really found any relevant information. The car itself is running fine, starts well, idles well, accelerates well. I can't notice anything wrong sitting behind the wheel. So, a couple questions... * Has anyone experienced this code before? If so, what tends to be the problem? From the hmaservice.com page it seems like this error could pop up because of a couple different reasons (- Mechanical trouble in CVVT system, ● Faulty Oil leak ● Faulty Oil pump ● Faulty Intake valve control solenoid). Seeing that I'm not a huge 'car guy', what is the severity of this code? * Would any of these repairs be covered by a Hyundai warranty (2nd owner). * Also, I bought the vehicle in NY which requires used car dealers to offer a limited 60 day warranty that covers the engine and electrical system (among other things). Anyone familiar with this NY warranty and know if whatever is causing the code would be covered. I greatly appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. |

Quote:
1. take it to a dealer and get it fixed for free under warranty 2. take it back to where you bought it and get you money back |
