Alarm Issue/Battery
I have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra. Yesterday my remote would not unlock my car so I decided to try and use the key to unlock, big mistake the alarm sounded and would only stop if the key was in the ignition in the on position. I left the car in this manner for about 10 hours while at work. When I came home I attempted to disarm the alarm again. I removed "fuse 8" as I had seen on a website to disarm the alarm but this was BS, so I replaced the fuse. I tried to jump start the car, assuming the alarm would have given up. When I turned the key to the on position the windshield wipers started going feverishly, yet the wipers were in the off position. Also my directionals were lit up(whether or not they were turned on), but the headlights wouldn't go on. A few of the lights in the dash were lit, (left and right turn signal, cruise control, which also wouldn't go away if set on or off). Is this indication that the alarm is still tripped? The alarm was not sounding while in this position. What should be my next move? Replace remote? Then what? Or do I have the alarm system removed? I don't need the system the car is very old now. But, I wonder if this will fix the issue.
