Default Ignition Timing

Hey guys, new here. First post.

Given the current gas prices, I am considering converting my 2001 Elantra GLS to run on ethanol. (Which I can legally produce at home for less than $1.00/gal.)

In order to do this I'm going to need to slightly increase the fuel injector jet size and advance the ignition timing to account for the higher octane of alcohol. (about 105).

My question, as the title suggests, is about the ignition timing. Will the ECM automatically compensate? If not is there a way to bypass the ECM and manually adjust the timing using a timing light?

Basically I'm just looking into how feasible this is. I've never worked on this vehicle other than changing the oil. I need to get a manual and familiarize myself with it.
