Stupid me drained the ATF instead of the engine oil. How embarassing. Where do I find the ATF fill port? Is there a ATF dipstick to check the fill level? Where is it located?

There is no dipstick, you're basically supposed to add the right amount of fluid (about 5 liters) after removing an eye bolt on top of the transmission, and then with the engine running, cycle the transmission through the shifter positions, then remove a level check plug and ensure that oil drains out in a thin stream. If not, you're supposed to then top up or let it drain out as needed. Trouble is the vehicle needs to be level for this and it's hard to jack up a vehicle level with the engine running without having a hoist. Might be able to get away with adding 5L or so to start with and getting the dealer/mechanic to check the level.
You can find all this info on hyundaitechinfo.com (just need to sign up using Internet Explorer). |
