Sunny, cold and clear today. Took the dogs out for a walk for the first time in a long while (no work + no rain = rarity in wintertime).

Also want to wash my poor dirty Elektra if I can manage not to freeze my hands off. I may fill my buckets with warm tap water.

Got outside to wash Elektra today, and things went as well as they could with freezing cold wind. Hands started to get cold, but otherwise things weren't too bad. She also got an interior vacuum and detail. My husband drove in while I was vacuuming, and I didn't hear him drive up, and he honked at me and scared the living daylights out of me. I could see he and my stepson laughing from inside the Xterra.

I'm glad I did wash her, because later I went to grab a few things from work, but beforehand went to take some cans back at a nearby Fred Meyer. I used the quick charger there, and when I was coming back, another Leaf owner was looking a bit disgruntled because she was having to use the L2 charger. I didn't understand at first, because I was not blocking the other side of the quick charger. But, she told me that side didn't work, so I moved my car (since it had just finished) and she was grateful. We got to talking about the typical charing issues we face, and she even gave me some of her signs that she'd made to put on cars. She tends to have a slightly less direct and more PC approach than I, haha!

She also complimented my blue console, which is more rare since it only comes on the Leafs with decals in lieu of side emblems. Most folks around here have the Leafs with the black console and emblems; I've only seen about 2 other Leafs with decals "in the wild." I mentioned the configuration, and she said that she thought the decals were kinda cool, so I guess I did feel a bit better about them, lol.

Unhappy Roller Coaster

Well, after being told repeatedly I would be kept on after the season, there was an unexpected turn, and they got rid of almost everyone, except for a couple. Unfortunately, I found out today that I was also one of those to go.

How they chose who to keep, I do not fully comprehend, as it was mainly very young, inexperienced people being kept. Anyone over the age of 21 and with any work history - CHOPPED.

I think it's because my boss' I.Q. is less than extraordinary (no joke) and so he only wants to keep people who are non-threatening.

I, surprisingly, did not freak out at all when I found out. I'd already had that panic attack a couple weeks back, when I thought I'd been laid off the first time. I've also had a couple more weeks to really dislike the place even more. I really need some time off to get a serious job.

In car news, on the way home tonight I saw my first 2013 Ford Fusion "In the wild," as well as my first 2013 Honda Civic. Except the encounter with the Civic was not at all good. The Civic driver was in the lane that was supposed to get on the southbound lane of 205 (the freeway I live near) and suddenly changed their mind, cutting someone off. Then, they got into the northbound lane, but again changed their mind suddenly, and cut ME off. Yes, I laid on my horn, as I really thought I might rear-end them.

Honestly, even if they hadn't pissed me off, I wasn't too impressed with the looks of the car. Not new or different enough to really inspire me.

Sorry to hear about your job. They usually keep the teenagers around because they're cheap. Not to worry... too much. Hit the streets and look for another job, or use the unemployment to retrain in computers or something. I always did better when I retrained.

Thanks, yeah, straight across the board, everyone kept was under 21 and no work experience, except for one girl around my age, but she hadn't worked for like 6 years.

The good news is, I have an interview tomorrow. The bad news is that I am coming down with the flu that my husband's had. Sore, scratchy throat right now...let's just hope I can make it through tomorrow morning.

I'm down with the flu, so I took some nighttime cold medicine, and I had a very vivid dream that I traded my Leaf in for a Dodge Ram pickup. I dreamt that I was marvelling over the room, but dismayed with how much I was paying in gas. (Duh? )

Now I just woke up not too long ago, but I was going online for a job testing thing, and it asked if I had reliable transportation. I literally had to think for a second whether I drove a Dodge Ram or a Leaf.

Haha, thanks, I feel like no one reads it, but it's nice just to vent.

I said it on the Elantra subforum, but I got a job yesterday, after only a few days of being unemployed! Yay! I was so worried I would be without work for another 5-6 months. Seems like my best friend and I both go about that long between jobs. Now we will both be call center reps (woot). Not so excited for the officey, sitting down part, but at least it's NOT RETAIL. I start the 15th for training.

Right now, I am just sitting at home, trying to recover from the flu. I have Kato grafted to my side, as usual.

It snowed lightly this morning, but it had already melted off my car and the roads and such.

I am exceptionally happy that you find another job so soon! I really hope things turn around quickly for you. Feel better soon!

Even though it's not ideal, officey can be such a welcome break from retail life! I was a manager at a big box retail store for 5 years and I am so happy every day to wake up, come to work, sit at my desk, etc. I assist clients but they need me, and not the other way around.

It's so refreshing in that way.
