Has anyone hacked the factory nav screen to play video or dvd? I just purchased a 2011 Sonata and was wondering if anyone has done it yet, in my previous vehicle there was a hack that allowed me to play dvds and watch videos through the factory nav system.

To my knowledge .. nothing yet.
I doubt there will be a hack for DVD's though, as it's not a DVD drive in there. It's only a CD. So at the very least I'm hoping for a hack that will play videos off my iphone of ipad on the screen. |

There will be no hack to play videos, at least that's my belief.
As someone has stated the navigation unit is flashed based and the optical drive in the Sonata nav unit is CD based. Not to mention in order for the Sonata nav unit to play back media like .mpeg, .avi and other video files, I would assume it would have to be set up to handle that kind of capability in the unit itself which I believe by default the Sonata nav unit doesn't have. Then there's the problem of actually getting the videos to play while the car is in motion (without screwing something up) if a hack for playing videos though a media device is successful. The Sonata won't even let you view images while the car is in motion so I don't know how viewing movies through an iPod would work. |

November and nothing yet? I have a 2011 Tucson and I assume the nav system is essentially identical. Id like to know if we can do this. To my knowledge the nav system is windows CE based, I suppose that the first step is to find some way to access that operating system. Any ideas?

2012 Elantra Limited w/ Tech

Hi, I was also wondering if there is some video input options for the 2012 Elantra.
The 2012 Veloster has the ability and comes with cable that goes from the normal auxiliary input and converts to rca (white, red, yellow) I posted on an Elantra forum asking about this as well. 1) "I noticed when I was inside of the Veloster it had what seemed to be a 3.5mm cable to audio/video cable (3.5mm to white/red/yellow) sitting in the glove box. The dealer said that the unit could display video from another external source using that cable. Is this possible with the Elantra w/ tech package? I noticed when searching online that there were OEM navigation units for sale that on the specs listed 2 video inputs. 1 for rear camera and 1 extra. This leads me to believe the option might be there. The dealer had said it should work with that cable on the Elantra but didn't sound to confident. I also do not see this cable listed on the Veloster or Elantra when building a car via the hyundaiusa website, only the iPod cable. Any help or info would be appreciated. " 2) The only thing I can find related to this refers to the Veloster. Fingers crossed that it works in 2012 Elantra =) http://adage.com/article/news/hyundai-velo...hangout/230304/ "To that end, Hyundai is the first to include an RCA cable which plugs into a standard auxiliary jack. Three plugs -- white, yellow and red -- can be put into an Xbox. " In the Veloster downloadable booklet it says "integrated auxiliary jack and rca cable that allows you to plug in and play videos from your ipod or other rca-compatible devices" Hyundai Motor America - 2012 Hyundai Veloster eBrochure Page 7 Under "Video Playback" Does anyone know if its possible in the 2012 Elantra? |
