hi there , and welcome to the forum '
First of all how could ur gearbox is automatic and u say that ur driving style is to shift at 3000 rpm ?!! seems to me that its a manual one ?!! any way , this fuel consumption is normal if ur matrix has an automatic gearbox , and yes there is an effective way to decrease the fuel consumption , which is to follow the quote ( Control your right feet ! ) means that u accelerate very very gently and don't push the accelerator hard , predict upcomming stops and reduce ur speed gradually , be very gental on the accelerator pedal , and don't run through traffic and overtake them , just drive gently in a slow manner , the most improtant is to accelerate very gently , i had the same problem as urs and I tried this way and it amazingly worked for me ! ... fill up ur fuel tank , reset the trip meter , then try the new way of driving and lets see how many kilometers can u make with a filled up tank ... try and tell us .. yours ' Ahmad Abdallah |

i mean by shifting at 3 rpm that i don't bush the gas pedal to reach higher rpms and i try to control my right but it didn't work so well and i didn't notice any change in fuel consumption i think i must reset the ecu before i try this way again what's your opinion?

u can reset the ECU , I think its a good idea , but please note that by resetting the ECU u will have to wait for 300 km to allow the ECU to learn ur new way of driving , don't judge the performance or the fuel consumption through those 300 kms , let us say that u will sacrifice a full tank for this procedure !! and please don't use fuel octane less that 92 octane , 95 would be better in terms of knock prevention , use shell , mobile or caltyx , those are the best brands .
Good Luck |
