Hello. I have just purchased a 2004 Hyundai Matrix and would like to take out the stereo/cassette player and instal a CD player. Can someone tell me how to remove the original one please. Thanks in advance.

I can talk about a 2001 Elantra and hope it is close.
I had to pull the cig tray out and found some skewes to remove.
From there I started pull off the trim. It was held in with clips. I took my time and worked my way up and over to the left around the gages.

So I would say look for breaks in the trim and remove all skews that are in the radio part of it. lay them out in order they were pulled off and start pulling SLOWLY.

Another idea is to go to a a junk yard and look at one or stop at the dealer ask ask for a min or two from the service guy. They may give you some free time and hope you come back for other work.

Good luck and keep us posted.

mr ken2400 has described it totally right ,Matrix wouldn't be much different than Elantra ,
First of all u have to use a knife or any thing similar to remove the trim around the gear shift lever , and be careful at that part so as not to break it , the u will find a screw inside fitting the lower part of the center trim which is fitted around the stereo cassette , unscrew it and then start pulling this center trim gently , its fitted there with clips , then u will find the cassette player fitted with screws there behind the center trim , then Bon arrivee ! replace the cassette player with the new one and start again the process in the reverse order , Good Luck and Be Careful !
